  • Pebbles Update

    Wed 30 Mar 2022

Pebbles has been given an upgrade! His table now contains some substrate, rocks, mini logs, stones, vegetation and a sunken bath. We hope that this environment will be a little more stimulating for him and allow him to climb and dig as he would in the wild. We have had to put him on a strict diet as he is a little heavier than we would like. Pebbles isn't too happy about this so come the evening he tries to climb out to find food!

  • Trouble at the Tudor Banquet

    Wed 30 Mar 2022

Well done to our Year 3/4 class who performed 'Trouble at the Tudor Banquet' to the whole school, including parents. They acted and sang their hearts out. After so long without any performances, they were definitely feeling nervous but they overcame these to give a great evening's entertainment.

  • Sharing the love

    Fri 25 Mar 2022

Some of our younger children rescued (not picked!) some daffodils during their Woodland Learning session and decided to give these to their Mums for Mothers Day.

  • Sending love to Ukraine

    Tue 22 Mar 2022

After raising money to send to the Disaster Emergency Appeal, Katryn and Lia bought into school the Ukraine flag - we sent love to the people of Ukraine!

  • A new teacher in school?

    Fri 18 Mar 2022

As her reward in Homeworkopoly, animal-lover Jennifer (Year 6) chose to teach the class a lesson about dog breeds. She prepared a full presentation and then gave the class follow-up learning tasks. She even marked the books! The children said they had enjoyed her lesson and learned a lot - well done, Jennifer!

  • Victory for Team Englefield!

    Thu 17 Mar 2022

On Thursday, two teams of Year 1s and 2s headed off to Elstree to play in their annual football tournament. The players should all be from Year 2 but as we have such small numbers and were asked to fill a space by providing 2 teams, we were given special permission to send some Year 1s.

Our current KS1 pupils show a lot of natural talent at football so we had high hopes for the day - we weren't to be disappointed. After an enjoyable and successful afternoon our A team ended up in the final against Woolhampton which they went on to win 2 - 0. We won the trophy!!

Well done to everyone who took part. Yet agan a succcesful afternoon of sport and one that Mrs Carney will remember for a long time.

  • Penguin Fun!

    Thu 17 Mar 2022

Year 1 and 2 had a fun way to learn about Gentoo Penguins today as part of British Science Week. After doing some research into their habitat, feeding habits and nest-building, eveyrone made their own penguin beak with cardboard and then worked in groups to produce their own penguin nest. Unusually Gentoos use mainly stones to build their nests as there is little or no vegetation on Antarctica.

  • Bradfield College Cross-Country

    Wed 16 Mar 2022

Mrs Carney took a team of 15 children from Key Stage 2 to Bradfield College for their annual cross-country race. The children had a great time - racing well and supporting each other as well as the competitors from the other schools. Mrs Carney was particularly pleased with the way the children waited by the track to cheer on the last few competitors before going off for their hot chocolate and snack - Love of Others in action!

    Well done, Team Englefield!

  • Cross-Country at Elstree

    Thu 10 Mar 2022

We took a team of 4 keen runners to compete in the Small Schools Cross Country Event at Elstree School. The course was quite difficult and the recent rain made the going tough. We did well though, managing to finish in 5th place out of 10 teams. The afternoon finished with some delicious sausage rolls, biscuits and hot chocolate provided by Elstree.

    Well done, team!

  • Skipping Workshops

    Thu 10 Mar 2022

All classes took part in skipping workshops funded by our Sports Grant. Our aim was to give pupils another actvitiy that they can do at playtimes in order to flourish by keeping active, fit and healthy. Skipping can also provide a good opportunity to develop social skills. Everyone learned some new skills and we had a special extension workshop after school for some of our keenest skippers.

We can now look forward to some healthy competition on the playground.
