Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
As with so many things, our end of term service had to change this year. Normally we have a candle-lit carol service for the whole school community. This year we had two small and peaceful wreath services at St Mark's led by Rev Nick. The children read out a passage about each candle before lighting them and then the whole group talked about the significance of each one.
Thank you to Rev Nick for giving us such a lovely end to this term.
A huge thank you to Gemma and Kathy from Caterlink and Linda, our general kitchen assistant, for filling in for poorly cook, Anita, and delivering a lovely Christmas lunch for all our bubbles. Everyone made a Christmas hat to wear and we had 'Bubbles' on the CD player too to get us in the Christmas spirit.
We even recorded a special Christmas message to send to Anita at home.
Each class and the choir have been busy recording their carols for their parents and wider family to enjoy at home. Fingers corssed we can do it safely live in church next year.
We have decorated a Christmas Tree in St Mark's Church to share our values with our local community. , Hopefully it will bring some joy too.
Every child in the school has written a 'Love is' message on a heart. The colours of the hearts represent our 5 areas of love:
Love of God
Love of Others
Love of Myself
Love of God's World
Love of Life
Please try to visit St Mark's to read some of our messages.
Like many schools, we followed government advice and moved our Nativity online. One of our ex-pupils came to school to video the 'Roving Nativity' which also coincided with Storm Barra...the children demonstrated great acting skills amidst the wind and rain!
Every pupil in FS2 and KS1 took part in telling the wonderful story of Jesus's birth.
Sadly our Christmas Fayre and Outdoor market had to be cancelled because of increasing Covid cases in the local area. However the fun carried on for the children as the PTA decorated the Englefield Village Hall and laid on some games and a photo booth for them to enjoy.
Thank you to everyone who came along to support our Santa Fun Run. The costumes were great and everyone cheered the runners brilliantly. Each pupil got sponsorship to run the race and the money collected will be going to the Ruby Rocks charity.
