  • What a find!

    Fri 27 May 2022

Last summer, a few parents were clearing out our PTA shed when they came across what we think is our original school bell.

Mr Neal, parent and local blacksmith, kindly took the bell away and made a new bracket for it so it can be put to use once more,.

We just have to find a new location for it and someone who is able to make a strong enough fixing!!

    Many thanks, Mr Neal!

  • Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

    Fri 27 May 2022

We had a fantastic afternoon celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a Street Party on the playground.

Families generously provided the food, drink and decorations and the children came adorned in a special hat that they had made for the occasion.

After a lovely celebration tea, the children were able to play jubilee-related games organised by the Year 5/6 children. Mrs Kelley led the younger pupils in some country dancing, and maypole dancing. There was a really festive atmosphere and it was a super way to finish off this half term.

All children were given a commemorative book mark from the PTA and a special book about the Queen’s faithfulness from John Bishop who runs various Christian camps at Rushall Farm.

  • Meet our latest addition!

    Wed 25 May 2022

Staff and pupils were so excited this morning to find out that the first of our Bantam eggs had hatched. Mrs Elliott brings us eggs each year and teaches us how to look after them until they have all hatched. Then, after a few weeks with us, the chicks return to Mrs Elliott's care.

There is nothing quite like the exhilaration of being one of the first people to see a new chick emerging from the shell, as you can see from the look of excitement and wonder on the children's faces.

Love of God's World and Love of Life in action!

  • Rainbows in the woods

    Fri 20 May 2022

Our younger pupils enjoyed making rainbows out of natural objects during their Woodland Learning session today.

  • Outdoor exercise area for Pebbles

    Wed 18 May 2022

Thank you to two of our older pupils for taking the time to create a super outdoor space for our school tortoise, Pebbles, to enjoy. He now has space to dig and climb, both of which are his natural characteristics.

  • A fond farewell

    Fri 13 May 2022

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Rev Nick and Harriet Wynne-Jones today. They have been supporting the school for nearly ten years and they will be greatly missed. The staff, governors, children and parents gave them gifts and cards to take with them to their new home. We hope they will be able to come back and visit us very soon.

  • Outdoor Gym

    Thu 12 May 2022

To help the Year 5s out during assessment week, the KS1 children had their gym lesson on mats on the playground. Luckily the weather was kind and it made a nice change to be stretching and balancing in the open air.

  • Stone Age Exploration

    Mon 09 May 2022

Our Year 5/6 class enjoyed a visit today from local historian, Myles Edgar. He brought his collection of Stone Age artefacts, including axe heads. He brought the joy of historical exploration to the class.

  • Beekeepers of the future

    Mon 09 May 2022

Mrs Watts came back to Englefield yesterday to restart her bee-keeping club. Six pupils from Year 5l6 donned their protective suits and joined her on a visit to the bee hives. They even held the queen!

  • It's open!

    Fri 06 May 2022

After 3 days of patient waiting, the multi gym was opened today by our Sports Ambassadors. Year 5/6 were the first class to have a go. Everyone enjoyed themselves and they particularly liked the sociable aspect of the gym set up.

This will be an important piece of equipment for some of our pupils who like to exercise but don't enjoy the fast-paced team games enjoyed by so many of their peers.
