Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Four of our Year 4 pupils took part in the maths challenge at St Edward’s School. They had to solve various mental maths and reasoning problems and work well as a team. Out of 18 teams Ella and Rafa came 3rd and Stanley and Elliot came 8th…the second-best performance of any of the schools present.
We all enjoyed raising money and celebrating Children in Need. We dressed up in bright colours or Pudsey-wear and did some fun activities in our House groups. There weree almost as many Pudsey Bears and Blush Bears in school as there were chldren!
Thank you to the House Captains for organising such a great day.
We are awaiting news of the amount raised through merchandise and donations.
On Remembrance Day, our choir of 19 eager singers sang in the Junior Music Festival at The Hexagon as part of a huge multi-school choir. They sang songs from the shows to an audience of 800 plus. Parents and pupils alike had a fantastic time – what an experience!
Some of our learning about 'Remembrance' will be on display in St Mark's church, Englefield, this week. We hope our prayers and artwork will help the congregation and our other neighbours during this important time of commemoration, reflection and thanks.
Seven of our Year 5l6 pupils spent the afternoon at Francis Baily playing football against four other local schools. The conditions were hard - slidy mud, cold rain and a strong wind made the going tough. The team were at a slight disadvantage as we had no subs and they all had to play four straight matches without a break. In difficult circumstances, we were delighted that the team kept going and managed to complete their matches. Well done to all who took part.
Both our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 football squads headed off to Westwood Farmn School this week to play in a tournament. The children supported each other well and showed great sportsmanship towards the other teams.
Both 'A' teams won all of their games and won the the tournament for their age group. Well done to all who represented the school so well.
We were delighted to open the gates fo the new Englefield Village Car Park this morning. The parents made good use of the facility and found it really helped to reduce the morning stress of finding a place to park. The Englefield Estate are awaiting the correct signage and are planning some additional planting to enable the car park to fit in with the beautiful local surroundings.
A huge thank you from the school to Englefield Estate for supporting the needs of the school and other village users so well.
