  • Cross Country at Elstree

    Thu 30 Jan 2020

Our KS2 cross-country team had a wonderful time running around the grounds at Elstree. This is a tough and challenging course and they managed to finish 6th. A great team effort. Well done to Archie, Boston, Ed and Kai.

Well done to our KS2 team who came first out of 20 teams! Not only are we gold medal winners but we also broke the overall record for West Berks for all time! Well done to Ajay, Archie, Kai, Olivia and Owen!

We’ve finally found our school sport!

  • Science at Pangbourne College

    Mon 27 Jan 2020

4 of our Year 5 pupils became scientists for the day when they visited the labs at Pangbourne College. They did various investigations into sound, light and radiation and even got to wear lab coast and goggles. They were also provided with a delicious lunch and cookies which rounded off the day nicely.

  • Values Day

    Thu 23 Jan 2020

Our recent values day was a great success. All classes took part in house groups, learning about the parable of the Mustard Seed and doing artwork, prayers and poetry to celebrate the theme. Here is an example:

    God in Heaven,

Please help us to grow from a little seed to a big tree,

Help us to share knowledge with each other and to focus on our school values.

    In Jesus’s name,

    Amen

  • Breakfast Workshop

    Thu 23 Jan 2020

Years 1/2 and two had a fun-packed morning when they were visited by Jan and Bev from the Education Department at Newbury Showground who led them in a workshop about healthy breakfasts. They made smoothies and porridge and then got to try them...the porridge was a big success and the most popular smoothie was the orange one, made of orange, peach and banana. They planted different grains and tried milking the ‘pretend cow’...the real one refused to get in the van this morning! Sebastian loved the morning and said milking the cow was great fun.

  • Archery

    Wed 22 Jan 2020

Five of our Year 5/6 pupils went to Theale Green School for an archery competition. George said ‘We had a lot of fun; I particularly enjoyed aiming at targets.’ Olivia liked the normal archery activity. Both felt the session made them more confident in their skills.

  • FS2 Stay and Play

    Wed 22 Jan 2020

Mrs Sheppard once again welcomed the parents of our youngest children into her class to have a morning learning with their children. You could barely see the tables and carpet for all the wonderful learning resources that the children got out to share with their parents.

  • Bake Off at Leighton Park

    Tue 21 Jan 2020

Our Year 5 pupils were lucky enough to be invited to Leighton Park School to take part in a ‘Chef for a Day’ competition. Working in pairs, they followed a recipe and measured out their own ingredients to make 12 cupcakes. They then decorated these and had a ‘blind’ competition just like in the real bake off to see whose cupcakes looked and tasted the best. Our two runners up were Kai and Kaleb with our winning pair being Maizie and Poppy. These four have been invited to attend the grand final in February when they will be competing against children from other schools. Kai said “It has made me want to cook more things” whilst Maizie admitted she has already started practising other treats for the final!

We are delighted to report that our team of budding chefs came second in the grand final...well done all!
