  • Goodbye!

    Thu 20 Jul 2023

This afternoon, we had a beautifully celebratory yet poignant Leavers Service for our Year 6 pupils. They told us their best memories of Englefield before being presented with certificates, cups and Bibles. We sang their favourite songs and at the end of the service the school sang a beautiful blessing as the Year 6 pupils processed out of the church...the silence when they had left was really moving.

Immediately after the service, they rushed to the local pool where they all jumped in still wearing their uniform!

We wish them all every happiness in the ext stage of their journey.

  • Music Concert

    Thu 20 Jul 2023

Each term we hold a music concert at which any pupil who is learning an instrument can perform to the school, including parents. This time we had 14 separate performances played on recorder, piano, flute, electric guitar and bass and finally the drums. Seeing the progress term on term is wonderful and it is a great opportunity to encourage more pupils to take up and instrument which will provide such wonderful opportunities when they grow older.

  • iRock

    Thu 20 Jul 2023

Well done to all the pupils who played to a packed hall this morning. The children make their own rock bands and choose which instrument to play. Jonny then teaches them popular rock songs and helps them to develop their sense of rhythm as well as their instrumental skills. They have shown great progress since the last concert and it was evident how much they all enjoyed performing. The audience was properly entertained!

  • Year 6 Leavers Artwork

    Thu 20 Jul 2023

Our tradition continued this year with our Year 6 Leavers producing a joint piece of artwork which will be displayed in the school hall so we can remember them. This year, following last year's piece which celebrated the Queen's Jubilee, we decided to create a piece celebrating the coronation of King Charles III. Thank you once again to Laura Alvarado who helped the children produce such a wonderful work of art which will be enjoyed for years to come.

  • Thank you tea

    Wed 19 Jul 2023

It was lovely to welcome over 20 parents to the school field this afternoon for a 'Thank you tea'. All parents were invited as our school relies on the additional support provided by our fantastic parent body. They were served tea and scones with jam and cream (baked by the Year 5/6 children ) and were entertained with some country dancing.

  • Windsor Castle

    Thu 13 Jul 2023

As part of our RE Week, the whole school went for a day trip to Windsor Castle. We had a fabulous time...so lovely to go out together! Highlights included the Changing of the Guard, Queen Mary's Dolls House, the State Apartments and St George's Chapel. There was something for everyone!

The main event was visiting the restingn place of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II...a really poignant moment.

  • Let Loose!

    Thu 06 Jul 2023

Our Year 5/6 class put on a fabulous production of Let Loose! This production was all about a residential trip with all the disasters that this entails - entirely fictional of course.

The performances were held in the marquee which was a super setting - especially with the 'realistic sound effects' of rain on canvas provided by the storm on Wednesday!.

The children learned their lines brilliantly, the songs were catchy and the comic timing was superb. The audiences were greatly entertained by the whole thing.

Well done to the pupils and staff and for putting on such a great show.

  • Singing for the NHS

    Wed 05 Jul 2023

Over 20 children from Key Stage 2 entertained the guests at the NHS Birthday Party held in Englefield House garden. We sang many of our favourite songs including Hosanna and Corner of the Sky as well as Happy Birthday...of course!

  • Small School Cricket

    Tue 04 Jul 2023

On Tuesday 4th July, a team of eleven Year 3 and 4 pupils went with Miss Langston to play in a cricket tournament at Bucklebury Primary School. There were six teams playing on three pitches.

We played four matches, winning three and losing one.

We all enjoyed the damp tournament and had loads of fun!

  • Flower Show and Summer Fete

    Sat 01 Jul 2023

Another fabulous community event was held on the school field on Saturday. The Englefield Flower Show has everything you would expect from a traditional village fete - a competition tent, stalls and games, a BBQ, a super raffle and refreshments including homemade cakes and Pimms. The atmosphere was fantastic, helped along by the Beenham Wind Orchestra. During their break the school choir sang and a group of pupils performed some Maypole Dances. Thank you to everyone who supported the event which raised nearly £3700 for the school.
