  • Rushall Residential

    Fri 23 Sep 2022

Years 5/6 have just come to the end of three fantastic days at Rushall Farm.

The days have been packed full of activities mixed in with free time to play and explore the beautiful environment. Activities included tractor rides, den-building, river-dipping, clay art, owl pellet investigation, butter-making, bat-detecting and a fabulous sing-song with marshmallows around the camp fire.

The children camped in tents and they loved creating homely burrows! The first night was quite chilly so on night two many of them chose to move in larger groups to the bigger tents...much cosier.

Thank you to the Englefield and Rushall Farm staff for making this such a successful trip.

  • Judo

    Wed 21 Sep 2022

Today was the first session of our new Judo Club. Seven children came along to try it out and had a great time on the special matted floor. Two of our older pupils had been to a similar club before so they came dressed in the correct kit...very smart!

Hopefully word will spread and more pupils will give this new club a try in the coming weeks.

  • Farewell and Thank you

    Tue 20 Sep 2022

Today we said a fond farewell and thank you to Jon Chishick last after 28 years as a governor at Englefield CE Primary School. Another example of selfless service for the good of others.

We were joined by Chairman of West Berkshire Council, Mr Rick Jones, who used to be a parent at the school. Ruth Bennie, Deputy Director of the Oxford Diocese Board of Education also joined us to thank Jon for his service as a Diocesan Governor, upholding our school's Christian vision and values.

Among the other guests were present and past staff, including ex-Headteacher Mrs Lesley Hankin.

  • Flower Show and School Fete

    Sun 11 Sep 2022

We all enjoyed a fabulous day for the whole school and local community on Saturday.

The Flower Show started in a slightly different way to usual with the Beenham Wind Orchestra  playing Nimrod; this was followed by a prayer from Rev Julia and a two minute silence to remember Her Majesty. A truly spiritual moment.

The fete then started amid squeals of delight. The band played, the BBQ sizzled, laughter and chatter ruled and cup upon cup of tea and plate upon plate of delicious cake were consumed. There were constant queues at the children's games and a great array of artwork and produce in the main tent for everyone to enjoy. We were also treated to some Country Dancing from some of the school children - thank you to Mrs Kelley for organising this.

The afternoon finished with a raffle and prize-giving. Altogether a super afternoon which brought the whole community together after the long summer break. We're already looking forward to next year!

  • A great start!

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

We were delighted with the way our childnre bounded back into school after the summer break. They were eager to get into their new classes and renew their friendships.

The brand new FS2 children have made a particularly notable start; they are independent and organised (a real blessing for Mrs Sheppard) and have been supportive and caring of each other right from Day 1.

The whole school has been busily preparing for the Flower Show on Saturday so there is an excited buzz about the place.
