  • Diwali Production

    Wed 27 Mar 2019

We were truly enlightened and entertained by the Year 3/4 production of ‘Diwali’. From superb acting to confident singing and clear narration, the children did us proud. Thank you to Miss Stuart, Mrs Newsome and Mrs Rose for their teamwork in bringing this event together.

  • Swanage Residential Trip

    Fri 22 Mar 2019

Years 5 and 6 recently enjoyed a fabulous 4 day residential trip. They stayed in Langton Matravers, just outside of Swanage, in a centre run by Dorset County Council. Pond-dipping, orienteering, a sand dune study, and a night walk with stories of smugglers from days gone by were just a few of the highlights. The food was fantastic as were the other facilities. Our ‘Has Englefield Got Talent ?’ night ended with a resounding ‘Yes!’. On the last day we enjoyed a tour around Corfe Castle and were lucky enough to see the Flying Scotsman puff by on the railway from Swanage...a real extra treat! The children get so much from our residentials: team work, caring for others, responsibility, outdoor learning and adven- turous experiences as well as having simple fun with their friends outside of the school environment. Thank you to the children for being such a wonderful bunch and also to Mrs Watts and Mrs Kelley for being so much fun on the trip.

  • Year 3/4 Tag Rugby at Crosfields

    Thu 21 Mar 2019

Our Year 3/4 tag rugby team played well together at the Crosfields tournament, getting 2 wins, 1 draw and only 2 losses...a fantastic result for a team who haven't played together as much as some of the other schools. Well done!

  • Headteachers for a Day

    Thu 14 Mar 2019

Mrs Latimer had two easy days recently when Mr Challand and Miss Tipper took it in turns to be Headteacher for the day. They did learning walks, lesson observations, wrote letters and put up displays. Well done to both of them for performing their duties so professionally.

  • Wooden Spoon Charity

    Wed 13 Mar 2019

John and Viv from the Wooden Spoon charity came in to talk to the Year 5/6 class about their upcoming rugby match at the advanced base camp of Everest. The children were

fascinated and are now looking forward to receiving photos and updates from them to
add to their learning in their Mountains topic. Thank you and good luck to John and Viv.

  • Rushall Farm

    Tue 12 Mar 2019

Our younger pupils battled though the wind and rain of Storm Gareth to enjoy an
    interesting day on the farm.
The children saw the lambs and piglets, toured the farm, learned the bee waggle dance, learned about food chains, dissected owl pellets and had a walk in the woods as well as a tractor ride...all good fun and very educational.

Thank you so much to the staff and parents who took them on such a foul day.

  • Book Week

    Fri 08 Mar 2019

All classes had a wonderful week playing with words and writing poetry. Mrs Kelley’s library quiz kept everyone busy at break times and the reading session on Wednesday afternoon when all staff read a story and some poetry to a group of children worked really well. The
highlights on World Book Day were our poetry finals followed by workshops with

    Mr Nick Parker.
Mr Parker and Mrs Woodward had the unenviable task of judging the poetry competition. The fourteen finalists were: Ella (FS2) Eva (FS2), Amelia (Y1), Matthew (Y1), Darcey (Y2), Logan (Y2), Isla (Y3), Boston (Y3), Laurie (Y4), Sofia (Y4), Alistair (Y5), Joshua (Y5), Sarah-Renae (Y6) and Isabelle (Y6). The standard of presentation was extremely high but we finally decided on five winners: Ella, Eva, Darcey, Sofia and Joshua. Well done to everyone. We are hoping to publish ananthology of all the pupils’ poems from this week which we hope to make available for parents to buy very soon.
