  • St Mark's Carol Service

    Sun 17 Dec 2023

How proud were we of the beautiful singing of 19 of our pupils who turned out on a Sunday evening to be part of St Mark's candlelit service. Annie and Amelia sang the first verse of Once in Royal David's City with sensitivity - a super way to start the service. The choir went on to sing Silent Night (in two parts) and Child in a Manger Born - a seasonal school favourite.

We had such wonderful comments from the congregation. A lovely way to start what will be a very musical week at Englefield.

  • Christmas Lunch

    Fri 15 Dec 2023

Anita excelled herself today, cooking a tasty two course Christmas dinner for the whole school. Staff served the children before sitting down to eat with them. A huge thank you to Anita and Linda for providing us with this special school occasion.

  • Christmas Fayre

    Fri 15 Dec 2023

Thank you so much to our wonderful PTA who put on such a fun (and profitable) Christmas Fayre. The event was opened by the choir singing some Christmas songs then there were lots of fun Christmas-themed games to play - many run by our Year 5/6 pupils, along with festive treats to eat and drink. Elfridges did good business with the children who wanted to buy and wrap a present for Mum or Dad in secret. The children were even able to make up their own reindeer food ready for Christmas Eve.

  • Christmas with the Aliens

    Wed 13 Dec 2023

Our youngest pupils got everyone into the Christmas spirit with a beautiful telling of a Christmas tale wth a difference - aliens landing on earth and learning about the Christmas story. They spoke and sang clearly and with confidence...a super production. Thank you to the staff and parents who prepared them so well.

  • Santa Fun Run

    Fri 08 Dec 2023

The whole school headed out to the Englefield Service in full festive outfits to enjoy our annual Santa Fun Run. Some were more competitive than others but everyone had a jolly time! This was a sponsored event which raised just over £513 for school projects...amazing!

  • Douai Abbey carol service

    Tue 05 Dec 2023

Our Year 5/6 class had a really enjoyable time at the Douai Abbey carol service for local church schools. Annie and Ameila sang the opening verse of Once in Royal David's City with the rest of the class joining in for verse 2. Scarlet, Tess and Seb did the final reading with great diction and clarity. The class also sang our favourite, Child in a Manger Born. This was a super way to start our school Christmas festivities.

  • Cross Country

    Thu 23 Nov 2023

Jude, Alfie, Evie and E set off to Estree School today for their primary schools cross-country event. The weather and surroundings were stunning though the ground was still very boggy after all the recent rain. The children ran brilliantly, pacing themselves well and they suppoted each other towards the finish line...as did the parents who were present. Fastest lap goes to Jude but well done to all of them for such a great effort. Thank you too to Elstree School for organising and providing such yummy treats at the end.

  • Woodland Learning

    Fri 17 Nov 2023

Woodland Learning is the highlight of our week in Foundation Stage 2 and Key Stage 1. Once a week the children head off to the woods, the deer park or the wooded drive area to carry out learning tasks from across the curriculum. Sometimes these are complete learning experiences in their own right but on occasion they are experiences that then support the children back in school with their creative writing.

Today,  we were delighted that Dr Liz Mattison and Rich Edwards from Englefield Estate organised a special Woodland Learning session for the children. It was a fabulous session and the children loved learning about how the trees in the Englefield woodland were managed. They became the trees themselves with someone chosen to 'thin them out' - a very interactive session. The children all really understood the process and why it is important to fell some of the trees every few years. The highlight of the session was individually planting a small oak tree. Linking their learning to geography, the children also learned first hand about the human and physical aspects of the estate and also about the habitats of all the creatures that live there.

We were so fortunate in having such experts to enhance our learning. Thank you.
