Sports Day

Another fantastic Sports Day at Englefield. The sun shone, picnics were enjoyed, everyone supported well and Pebbles the tortoise even joined in by meeting some of our toddlers.

Our older pupils started the day with the Englefield Mile. Meanwhile, Key Stage 1 did a carousel of activities on the school field - target-throwing, vortex and doing a standing jump. After morning break, Key Stage 2 took over on the field and did a range of activities to test their sporting skills.

At noon, parents arrived with picnics and chairs and families set up camp on the school field - such a lovely atmosphere.

Races got underway after a rousing parade of our four Houses around the field. Sprints, football dribble, obstacle courses and egg and spoon were all cheered on by the crowds. The last pupil race was the sprint relay which was incredibly fast, especially given the hot conditions.

While we waited for the scores to be added up, the children enjoyed an ice lolly whilst the toddlers had a running race and the parents entered the egg and spoon - specially designed to slow them down...they are a very competitive bunch!

The final results showed that  Athena triumphed on the day with Poseidon coming in second, Demeter third and Hermes fourth.
