Ten pupils from Years 3 to 6 spent a wonderful day in the splendid grounds of Bradfield College today; they were taking part in a Kwik Cricket Festival. The children spent some time at school first having some great training from Will and practising the skills they have been learning in their PE sessions. When we got to Bradfield, we were placed in a tournament with four other schools. The children played so well in their teams, supporting each other and confidently batting, bowling and fielding. This was greatly helped by the Bradfield College pupils who were umpiring and providing informal coaching as the games went on. As always, on these occasions, their skills improved dramatically as the day went on.
We won two games, drew on runs on the third game (but lost on wickets), and lost the final game.
Top batsman was Will with a total of 84 runs (including five 6s and ten 4s); star catcher was Inti with two amazing jumping catches; other notable fielders were Elliot with a catch and two run outs and Pharrell with a catch and a run out.
The children had a fabulous time and their enjoyment of cricket was clear to see.
